Who we are…

The Pacific National Exhibition is an iconic institution in BC, famous for bringing generations of people together to celebrate and build memories. This 113 year old, non-profit organization has an annual operating budget of over $70 million dollars and generates revenue through four activity streams: the 15 day annual summer Fair and winter Fair which average more than 700,000 people annually, Playland amusement park which welcomes 400,000 guests annually including Fright Nights, and a busy year-round portfolio of events including concerts, trade shows and film, cultural and community events. In total we bring over 2 million people through the site each year. The fourth activity stream is park care and facility maintenance. The PNE is proud of the work it does at Hastings Park and has a vibrant team that is passionate about events, guest experience and delivering memorable experiences.

The PNE’s Sales, Marketing & Business Development Department oversees the company’s marketing, corporate partnerships, group sales, facility sales, business development and TicketLeader. Our team are hardworking and motivated individuals that have a passion for the Events Industry and the Pacific National Exhibition (PNE).  

The Marketing Assistant will report to the Manager, Digital Media and will support the Marketing team through social media content planning and posting including writing, liaising with radio and TV stations on all on site promotions, website and app updates and other exciting projects throughout the summer. What will you do this year?

In your role as a Marketing Assistant, your primary accountabilities will be to:

  • Write/edit copy for make updates to the PNE websites.
  • Assist in the development of social media content, monitor social media activity, and respond to comments and direct messages.
  • Assist with on-site photography shoots for PNE and client events.
  • Input Fair schedule and event information into PNE app.
  • Generate reports on email, web and social stats and share insights with the team.
  • Assist with on- and off-site promotions – set up, distributing promo items, and other tasks pertaining to promotions.
  • Assist with the development, and execution of the on-site consumer research programs for Fair, Prize Home Lottery, and Playland.
  • Traffic TV, radio, print and outdoor ads to all media outlets.
  • Develop agendas for marketing team meetings.
  • Be open and available to undertake operational activities like helping to move media partners or sponsors on/off the site or troubleshoot event operations.
  • Undertake a variety of Marketing projects and duties as assigned.   

What else?

  • Completed or working towards an education in Marketing/Communications
  • Experience in social media, customer service and or promotions and asset
  • Strong writing skills required.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills; ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Excel in a creative and energetic environment
  • Working knowledge of WordPress, Google Analytics, and Later required
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards for excellence
  • Flexibility to work events (evening, weekends & holidays)
  • Working Conditions: hybrid position with a minimum of two days a week required in office.
  • Must be available to work full-time onsite during events.
  • Successful candidates must undergo a Criminal Record Check.
