Marine Mechanical Engineer: Harvey 2133
We are currently looking for a Marine Mechanical Engineer with 5 years plus of Canadian marine mechanical engineering experience.
A) Technical – one or more of the following skills:
Perform engineering calculations using empirical formulae from Classification Regulations as well as from first principles
Perform HVAC calculations according to recognized marine standard criteria
Prepare mechanical/diagrammatic drawing packages for submission to Classification Societies
Prepare propulsion driveline / shafting arrangements including relevant analysis using recognized software
Have adequate knowledge of marine engineering and systems to ensure the functionality of the equipment required for a vessel
Develop technical drawings
Provide technical input to specifications and drawings
Perform engineering studies, technical evaluations and various analyses/studies
Familiar with Classification Society Rules and Flag State Regulations.
In addition to performing discrete technical tasks within larger projects they may perform the role of second in command to the project manager
Be cognizant of certain aspects of the management of the project, including, but not limited to, the following: establishing realistic working budgets, deliverable deadlines, budget tracking & analysis, prioritize and coordinate project schedules
When assigned to lead smaller projects he will be responsible for all of the above and the following
Representative tasks, duties and responsibilities:
Reports to the Project Manager
Preparation of project schedules (budget, work plans, etc.
Project budget performance & technical quality
Monitoring individual project status (budget, work plans, etc.) and providing regular updates to the project manager
Assigning individual project tasks to project staff members
Selection of project consultants
Management of project consultants
Preparation of project specs and engineering documents
Supervision of staff working on a project
Supports PM in individual project communications (regular project staff meetings)
Supports PM in the resolution of project related issues
Supports PM in coordinating / processing project change orders
Supports PM in project QA / QC
Supports PM in initiating project invoicing (markup of Project List report for accounting)
Supports PM in Client Technical Approval of invoices
Supports the marketing efforts of the President as needed
Supports the Proposal Manager in the preparation of individual Proposals
Will hold a minimum qualification of a recognized diploma or equivalent in a related field and be eligible for enrolment in a recognized association of technologists and will have a minimum of five years post-graduation experience in industry.
This is a fulltime position
