Reporting to the Program Manager, Sustainability, Value Delivery, the Manager, Value Delivery, Health and Safety is responsible for evaluating opportunities for the application of digital innovation and advanced analytics to health and safety management activities at existing, legacy, and future operations. This role will have a dotted line report to the Director, Occupational Health & Hygiene in the Sustainability and External Affairs team.

Success will require a demonstrated ability in leading teams composed of individuals with disparate proficiencies such as analytics, health and safety expertise, software development, systems integration, and continuous improvement. A good understanding of the mining process is vital, ideally involving all key commodities that we are involved with. Also vital is expertise in health and safety management including experience with high-potential risk controls, occupational health and hygiene and building a safety culture.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Collaborate closely with digital product teams, ensuring products solve for business needs (site, functional groups and corporate ) and deploy them in partnership with operating sites and end users to achieve sustainable business value
  • Collaborate with senior leaders within RACE, Sustainability External Affairs, functional groups and sites to develop and maintain strategies for improvement and innovation in health and safety
  • Integrate efforts with other relevant RACE teams
  • Execute a portfolio of work (digital products, technologies, process transformations) that has clear business cases, strong end user agreement, is aligned with governance commitments and regulatory requirements, and reflects project plans and continuous improvement trackers
  • Maintain the portfolio health such that is has initiatives at various stages of maturity to ensure a balanced pipeline and prioritize to reflect team capacity
  • Collaborate and provide leadership (through influence) to teams of teams including digital teams, site CI/OPEX teams, end users, and other specialized resources that are a combination of internal resources, consultants, and contractors for end to end delivery.
  • Manage a team of Deployment Specialists
  • Drive for collaboration within the Technology and Innovation group to ensure all products related to health and safety are aligned with business needs and executed efficiently and effectively
  • Communicate and report on progress towards product development and deployment, including tracking against non-financial improvements
  • Lead creating and maintaining requests for capital for the portfolio of product aligned with business planning cycles
  • Lead change management planning to ensure successful deployment of products delivered.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Arts or Science, or equivalent experience; Masters is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of expectations related to health and safety performance and the role that technology can play in meeting these expectations
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models, knowledge of agile and traditional project management principles, and able to blend them together
  • Experience with data science, data engineering, or software engineering in the resource industry is preferred
  • On site experience in a resource industry company leading Continuous Improvement teams, with involvement in deploying advanced analytics products in an operational context
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills with an ability to manage competing demands
  • Experience managing multiple external vendors simultaneously
  • High tolerance for ambiguity and constantly evolving environments
  • Very effective interpersonal skills including mentoring, collaborating, networking, influencing, providing and receiving feedback, and team building
  • Proficient interacting with individuals from both technology organizations and operational sites, at all levels of an organization
