MANAGER OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

 

The Vancouver School District is an exciting, progressive and dynamic school district. The School District has almost 8,000 employees, 113 educational sites, and a $500 million operating budget with major capital projects underway.

 

We are currently seeking a Manager of Business Development to provide leadership in management of revenue generation activities for the school district. Reporting to the Assistant Secretary Treasurer – District Services, the Manager of Business Development is responsible for identifying, evaluating, implementing and managing new revenue opportunities, non-curricular partnerships, sponsorships and other business arrangements as well as donations and grants, all with a primary focus of building incremental revenue for the school district in support of the District’s strategic goal of effectively utilizing school district resources and facilities.

 

In cooperation with the Communications Department, this position will be responsible for drafting and preparing press releases and promotional materials in relation to revenue generation projects.

 

Your experience working in public school and community settings, paired with strong communication skills will assist you in building and maintaining relationships with external organizations and businesses and to develop and nurture new and existing partnerships. Outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills are a key component in liaising with businesses, the community and all levels of government in seeking new and enhanced mutually beneficial cooperative ventures.

 

Your strong written communications skills will contribute in the development of annual fundraising plans and writing, editing and reviewing detailed grant applications and donor and sponsor proposals.

 

Your strong marketing and financial planning attributes will allow you to effectively monitor market conditions, prepare annual reports, draft contracts and negotiate business agreements. You are a creative and organized individual who can prioritize projects, manage details and make sound decisions.

 

The successful candidate should have a Business Degree with an emphasis in Marketing or Economic Development and at least five years plus of experience as a business-related manager, preferably in a multi-union public sector environment in the K-12 Sector.
