Role Overview

Reporting to the Director, MOS (Management Operating System), the Manager MOS Design, will be responsible for managing the design, development and application of Teck's Management Operating System (MOS). In this role the incumbent will provide leadership over a small team to manage the design progress, the interface between design elements and owners, and having an ongoing role in helping the sites understand, sustain, and improve their MOS maturity. This will require teamwork and coordination with our operating sites, internal corporate-level teams, and consultants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Responsible for the development and documentation of Teck's Management Operating System that is applicable for all Teck sites, inclusive of frameworks, standards, procedures, guidelines and site based processes.
  • Responsible for managing the schedule and progressing the MOS design workstream including the review process of MOS documentation and integration between elements and standards.
  • Align MOS design priorities with enterprise deployment strategy, ensuring sequencing, dependencies, and site readiness are reflected in design plans.
  • Oversee the information management and document control for MOS documents
  • Coordinate with other Teck departments in the development of Standards that are directly linked to site's operations to ensure they are aligned with Teck's established MOS and published standards.
  • Ensure MOS standards and tools are designed for practical implementation, including usability, scalability, and adaptability across different site contexts.
  • Coordinate with the Change Management team on the activities required for the successful publishing and roll out of Standards.
  • Partner with Change Management and Deployment to embed MOS standards into implementation plans, ensuring adoption, capability building, and sustained behavioral change.
  • Actively collaborate with MOS Coaches and Implementation Workstream Leads to validate that standards are implementable, effective in practice, and aligned to operational realities; incorporate field feedback into design evolution.
  • Act as the design authority during MOS implementations, ensuring deviations are managed, standards are applied consistently, and exceptions are evaluated and approved appropriately.
  • Develop, facilitate and govern the assurance processes for MOS including audits, maturity assessments and management of change.
  • Organizing and leading (with site collaboration) regular audits & maturity assessments.
  • Maintaining the MOS roadmap and backlog for future MOS changes and improvements.
  • Training key MOS leaders (e.g. designers & custodians) at site on more advanced MOS concepts.
  • Executing & maintaining the MOC process for MOS changes.
  • Raise and manage risks to the MOS program.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or other relevant discipline.
  • 15+ years of industrial experience with leadership experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience developing and/or implementing an operating system at operations or equivalent management systems.
  • System design thinking application as core experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and motivate diverse teams and individuals.
  • Broad understanding of operational excellence within an industrial setting.
  • Strong project management and documentation control skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and personal effectiveness; proven ability to influence.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Demonstrated team player.
  • Solid facilitation skills.
  • Process-focused and results-oriented.
  • Spanish language skills would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel 15-30% to Teck's operations.

Pay Range: CAD $138,000 - $170,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
