BC 1 Call is the critical link between British Columbia’s excavating community and underground facility owners, ensuring safe digging practices and the protection of vital infrastructure. As a Not-for- Profit corporation, BC 1 Call operates under the governance of a Board of Directors, which includes representatives from its six shareholders—FortisBC Gas, FortisBC Electric, BC Hydro, Telus, Enbridge, and Trans Mountain—as well as up to three independent Directors who contribute additional expertise and oversight.

As a member-funded organization, BC 1 Call derives revenue primarily from locate request fees and voluntary sponsorships, ensuring its ability to sustain and enhance services that safeguard people, property, and essential infrastructure. About the Opportunity

BC 1 Call is looking for a full-time Manager, Marketing and Stakeholder Engagement based in the Lower Mainland, BC (remote with travel across British Columbia).

Reporting to the President, this role leads BC 1 Call’s marketing and communications strategy to enhance public awareness, strengthen stakeholder engagement, and drive membership growth across the province. The position is accountable for brand management, digital presence, public relations, event coordination, and measurable campaign performance aligned with organizational goals.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Developing and executing comprehensive marketing and communications strategies aligned with BC 1 Call’s mission and growth objectives
  • Driving membership growth initiatives through targeted outreach, campaigns, and strategic partnerships
  • Managing brand consistency and messaging across all digital, print, and media channels
  • Creating and overseeing engaging content including press releases, newsletters, reports, and video productions
  • Managing and optimizing website and social media platforms to maximize reach and engagement
  • Building and maintaining relationships with municipalities, utilities, industry partners, media, and key stakeholders
  • Representing BC 1 Call on the Awareness Resource Council and collaborating with external agencies and partners
  • Planning and coordinating trade shows, safety presentations, sponsorships, and industry events across BC
  • Tracking, analyzing, and reporting on marketing performance, membership growth, and campaign effectiveness
  • Managing marketing budgets, external contractors, and promotional materials to ensure cost-effective execution
  • Developing and maintaining a crisis communications plan to support timely and effective messaging
  • Delivering educational and other presentations both in person and virtually
  • Providing internal communications support and preparing reports and materials for the President and Board
About You

To qualify, you will need a post-secondary degree in marketing, communications, political science, or a related discipline, along with a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. A minimum of 5 years of progressive marketing and communications experience, ideally within municipalities, utilities, construction, excavation, oil and gas, telecommunications, mining, or other infrastructure-related industries, will also be essential.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Experience developing and executing data-driven marketing and stakeholder engagement strategies
  • Demonstrated success growing membership, partnerships, or stakeholder participation
  • Strong digital marketing expertise, including website management, social media strategy, and content optimization
  • Experience creating multimedia content, including video production
  • Experience managing events, trade shows, sponsorships, and industry outreach initiatives
  • Experience managing budgets, external contractors, and cost-effective marketing campaigns
