The Manager, Maintenance & Facilities reports directly to the VP Operations and will be responsible for a broad range of key operational responsibilities, including Facilities & Maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the maintenance of all facilities, equipment and building infrastructure
  • Mitigating business risk through the development and implementation of Business Continuity Plans
  • Ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements/permits
  • Actively participate cross-functionally on critical initiatives as a member of the Management Team


Specific functional responsibilities include:

Facilities & Maintenance
  • Acting as the primary liaison with all sub-tenants, landlords and property managers
  • Managing and oversight of the maintenance and upkeep of all facilities and manufacturing equipment
  • Managing security of all facilities
  • Managing the overall Preventive Maintenance program (with a focus on continuous improvement)
  • Designing and managing facilities upgrades and improvement projects
  • Identifying and implementing energy-reduction initiatives


Requirements:
  • Degree in a related field, preferably in engineering or business
  • 10+ years of progressive work experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 3 years' experience leading a team
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Understanding of reporting and key performance indicators
  • Demonstrable employee relations experience, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proven track record of managing complex challenges/situations while continuing to meet deadlines and achieve goals
  • Strong understanding of building management systems
  • Experience with Global Safety and Facilities regulations
  • Good mechanical and electrical aptitude, including;
    • Experience with compressed air systems, chillers, DI Water systems and Heating Ventilation & Air Conditioning (HVAC)
  • Experience with compressed gases and process piping an asset
  • Experience with building/system automation is an asset
  • HVAC design and CAD experience is an asset
  • Experience with a preventative maintenance program
  • Strong problem solving, organizational and analytical skills
  • Able to build commitment to ideas, plans, or courses of action
  • Able to think creatively and identify innovative solutions to complex issues
  • Experience in lab environment is an asset
