Our People & Culture team is looking for a Manager, Health & Safety Partnerships.

The manager will develop and implement an organizational health and safety risk and management systems program with an enterprise-wide lens, ensuring the health and safety of its workforce.

In this role, you will partner with business teams that engage in higher risk work activities - such as in Prevention, Claims and Rehabilitation, and Real Property and Workplace Services - to build on health and safety measures and not only improve the operationalization of health and safety at the everyday level but also enhance the identification and assurance of health and safety risk management.

This partnership will provide the higher risk business teams with a means to inform and refine the organization's health and safety priorities and programs.

You will act as an influential guide in leading positive organizational change towards health and safety for our employees and in service of our vision and values.

What you'll do
  • Partner with business teams on assessing and managing higher-risk health and safety work activities, equipment, locations, and assets.
  • Ensure the effective delivery of Business Partner safety services and programs by developing and implementing business plans to support and achieve the various division's strategic objectives.
  • Develop, manage, and promote enterprise-wide health and safety programs, processes, and practices (e.g., respiratory protection, incident investigations, working alone, etc.)
  • Partner with business teams, senior leadership, and People & Culture to support the business units and provide guidance and solutions.
  • Maintain high levels of service and achieving objectives. Hire, orient, evaluate, and performance manage staff as required. Sets performance goals and provides coaching to support and motivate staff in meeting expectations.
  • Build and maintain excellent relationships internally and externally at all levels of the organization, partnering closely with the operational side of the organization and other key stakeholders
  • Motivate influence and inspire your team and business partners
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.

We're looking for someone/people who can:
  • Communicate new concepts at a high level effectively, both verbally and in writing to people of all levels of understanding
  • Champion a collaborative approach with business teams on developing, operationalizing, integrating, measuring, and maintaining safety risk management processes
  • Demonstrate the ability to influence and motivate others and encourage meaningful change
  • Create a supportive and healthy working environment within the team by providing support, ensuring effective communication, promoting teamwork, providing opportunities for staff involvement in planning and recognizing employees' contributions and achievements
  • Build respectful and meaningful relationships with stakeholders across the organization
  • Drive to various worksites for site assessments and meetings.

Your background and experience
  • A university/college degree in a relevant discipline, such as occupational health and safety, or occupational hygiene
  • Designation or eligibility as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP),
  • Minimum of five years of experience working with organizational or corporate health and safety programs and practices.
  • A minimum of three years of work experience in a management role leading and delivering higher risk health and safety strategies and programs.
  • Experience working in unionized/non-unionized environments preferred
  • A current valid driver's license

We'll consider equivalent combinations of education and experience.

Salary : $119,091 - $144,695/ yearly
