Our worldwide network of Global Mobility Services professionals provide tax and payroll compliance and consulting services to executives and employers of people who work, live and invest outside their home country. We design sophisticated tax planning and compensation strategies to help companies with international workforces and their executives manage their tax liabilities and other expenses of operating in the global business environment.

The successful candidate will provide Canadian and US personal and payroll compliance and advisory tax services to our multinational clients. You will be responsible for overseeing a variety of clients, developing relationships with clients and team members, providing cross-border personal tax and mobility expertise, looking for ways to constantly innovate and improve, and helping to grow our practice as we expand into new client opportunities and service offerings. You will also be responsible for a variety of technical, administrative, and support functions with regards to the management of our clients' expatriate tax programs. The ideal candidate enjoys continuous learning and working in a team to deliver exceptional client service.

What you will do
  • Leading client engagements of various sizes
  • International assignment program management - manage all aspects of a client engagement;
  • Tax compliance management - Canadian and US personal tax - tax returns, tax projections, tax equalizations, tax briefings with assignees, cross-border (shadow) payroll;
  • Reviewing the work of junior staff for accuracy and completeness.
  • Advising on various mobility issues such as related to business travelers and cross-border remote work arrangements;
  • Providing ongoing support and mentoring for the professional development of staff.
At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need extra time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.

What you bring to the role
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a public accounting firm specializing in personal Canadian and US tax and/or expertise in cross-border Canada-US payroll matters .
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Highly motivated individual with a desire for growth.
  • Dedication and motivation to achieve high standards of client service and professionalism in the performance of duties.
  • Emphasis on quality and adds value to their client offerings and services.
  • Strong analytical, project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent computer skills - Excel experience is required.
  • Effectively manages conflicting demands and priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills allowing effective interaction with staff and clients.
  • Able to instill enthusiasm in others to achieve desired results.
  • Able to provide persuasive and self-assured responses to challenging questions.
  • Canadian or US accounting designation or professional licensing a definite asset but it is not required.


The expected base salary range for this position is $102,500 to $200,000 and may be eligible for bonus awards. The determination of an applicant's base salary within this range is based on the individual's location, skills & competencies, and unique qualifications. In addition, KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive Total Rewards program.
