  • Role Purpose

    To lead and evolve Coast Capital's data governance program by embedding trust and enablement principles across the enterprise. This role ensures that data is treated as a strategic asset - accurate, accessible, and actionable - through robust quality controls and metadata-driven knowledge practices. The Manager will operationalize governance through frameworks, tools, and rituals that support innovation, compliance, and drive business impact.

    Accountabilities

  • Communication: Develop and deliver a communication strategy outlining the purpose of the data governance program to ensure successful program implementation and stakeholder acceptance
  • Explore and Capture Needs: Connect with key stakeholders for input around data in order to develop direction for a strategic data future state
  • Governance: Develop and manage the framework for data ownership, data quality and consistent business rule definition across stakeholder groups
  • Leadership: Lead the Data Governance Team and tool implementation,
    Organize and facilitate Data Governance committee meetings
  • Strategic Thinking: Develop a future state for a data driven organization that advances business and helps to achieve organizational KPIs

  • Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 - 9 Years of Job Related Experience: Thought leadership across Data Governance domains including Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Data Cataloging, Glossary, and Lineage management. Financial services domain experience preferred but not necessary.
  • Significant experience in data strategy, architecture, processes and systems Critical understanding of the business and how effective Data Governance will enhance performance and results.
  • Experience operationalizing and rolling out data governance at mid-large
    sized organizations.
  • Bachelor's Degree or a diploma requiring 3 - 4 years of full-time study.
  • Data Exploration, Data Quality, Master Data Management, and Data Cataloging, Glossary, and Lineage management
  • Business Acumen: understands how business works, including current and future strategies, practices, trends, economics, and technology; understands the competitive environment and how strategies and tactics work in the marketplace
  • Change Leadership: Refers to the role leaders play in change; help others deal with change and explore options by helping to prioritize and empower people to solve challenges; ask and listen, dispel rumours actively, provide empathy
  • Collaboration: demonstrated ability to positively and productively engage and deal effectively with colleagues at all levels; builds constructive, mutually beneficial relationships, appropriate rapport and relates well to others
  • Communication: demonstrated experience and effectiveness in both oral and written communication including F2F oral presentations to groups, focused and concise written and verbal summaries, effective questioning and listening skills
  • Initiative: Works effectively with limited supervision and within established authorities; is proactive in identifying and pursuing tasks with energy, drive, and a need to "finish"; knows when and what to refer for guidance and/or approval
  • Member/Client Focus: dedicated to meeting the expectations and needs of internal and external clients; establishes effective relationships with members, earning trust/respect; acts with a conscious intent to fulfill our CCS purpose
  • Strategic Thinking: demonstrated enterprise perspective and experience ensuring practices, divisional strategies and tactics align with organizational culture, plans and priorities; maintains a holistic and informed perspective
