Position Highlights We are creating a new team to consolidate governance over actuarial work in the Corporation. The Manager will lead an independent team that will focus on ensuring the quality of analytical processes and key results produced by the actuarial and corporate forecasting teams. The team will review procedures and controls, and also perform full peer reviews over key work products. The manager will work closely with the actuarial teams and with the Corporate Audit Services department. The manager will report on review results to provide assurance to the Chief Actuary, Appointed Actuary, Corporate Controller, and Chief Financial Officer.

Key accountabilities include:

• Contribute to development of roles and responsibilities for the team • Recruit, manage, and develop a staff of two actuarial professionals to provide appropriate expertise • Oversee implementation of enhancements to actuarial processes and controls • Provide status updates to senior management • Create and implement an annual plan for peer reviews, process reviews, documentation reviews, and data validation, including: ▫ full peer review of the actuarial liability estimation and pricing changes ▫ supporting the Appointed Actuary in creation of the detailed actuarial report ▫ validation of new data constructed for use in core actuarial work products • Recommend improvements and provide education as needed based on review findings • Be responsible to support internal and external audit functions in their audits of actuarial work • Maintain connections with operational actuarial, analytical, and financial reporting teams in order to remain up to date on current actuarial methods and practices, potential data issues, and other relevant circumstances .

Position Requirements The successful candidate will have several years' experience in property & casualty actuarial work and a strong knowledge of actuarial reserving, pricing, and modelling practices. Ability to create a collaborative and positive work environment, build and

maintain strong and effective relationships, and effect change from a position of influence are key work attributes for this position. Experience with automobile insurance or other P&C background is required. Experience with financial reporting in Canada would be an asset.

Additional requirements include:

• Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), or equivalent; • At least 8 years of relevant experience; • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand context and its impact on all issues, identify key areas requiring particular focus, and successfully execute strategies for resolution • Communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate with all levels of leadership at the right level for the audience; • Courage, integrity, and willingness to report results in an unbiased manner.
