FrontCounter BC provides a range of services to the public and to other government agencies involved in utilizing and managing Crown land and natural resources. FrontCounter BC assists clients by coordinating access to tenures, permits, licences, Crown land sales and grants for all the natural resource sector agencies. It is a single window service for businesses and individual citizens seeking information and/or authorizations to utilize Crown natural resources.

The Natural Resource Specialist (NRS) provides front line service, based on full knowledge of various natural resource agency and other agency's legislation, regulations, policies and procedures to clients of the provincial government's natural resource agencies. In this role, the NRS evaluates complex applications and prepares the application report package for further review and decision. In offices without a Senior Natural Resource Specialist, this position may also be required to be the team lead for the program, provide supervision, advanced expertise, project management and leadership within the FrontCounter BC office.

Job Requirements:

• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration, with the British Columbia professional association as required by the specialty area (e.g., Forest Professionals, Institute of Agrologists, Engineers and Geoscientists BC). Note: immediately eligible for registration is defined as being able to transfer a current membership from an applicable jurisdiction to the BC association within six (6) months of employment. Confirmation of registration/eligibility is required before an offer of employment can be made.
• A Bachelor's Degree in a Natural Resource Management related field and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience in a resource management related field.
• Experience supervising and/or providing functional supervision to staff.
• Must maintain at least a British Columbia Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 3 days at home per week subject to an approved Telework Agreement.
