Position Summary
Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at North Haida Gwaii Hospital.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse and reporting to the Clinical Nurse Supervisor/Educator, Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital, this position is responsible for providing direct nursing care and carrying out such nursing procedures as catheterizations, sterile dressings, IV maintenance, vital signs and glucometers. The LPN works in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days, 09:00 to 21:00 (Rotating)

New Wage: As of April 1, 2024 the new wage is: $32.84 - $44.96/hour

Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital in located in Masset and is a four acute care bed hospital with one palliative care bed, four long term care beds and a four unit assisted living complex. They offer emergency, lab, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, home and community care services, primary care mental health and substance use, services, chronic disease management, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy. Visiting specialists includes Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Respirology, Rheumatology, Urology and Ophthalmology.

Masset is a small fishing village located on Graham Island with a population of approximately 793 local residents and servicing a surrounding population of 2300. Qualfications
• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with patients, families, co-workers, members of the multi-disciplinary team and the public.
• Knowledge of competencies to work at full scope of practice as currently required by the CLPNBC including administering medications.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
