Our client, a community-based law firm with offices located all throughout the province, has a history of being one of the top firms in its league. They have low turnover and a team-based atmosphere.
This client is currently looking for an intermediate to senior LAA to work with a busy lawyer in their Family Department in a Maternity Leave position. This position begins mid-to-late October 2016.
While not guaranteed, there is a potential opportunity for this position to go permanent.
Working under the direction of the lawyers in our Family Law team you will provide support in day-to-day team operations including:
Managing client and file information
General correspondence and document preparation
Maintaining organizational systems and bookings
Drafting and filing documents
Electronic file management
Direct client contact
Time entry, billings, and general administrative tasks
Legal Administrative Assistant certificate from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience.
2+ years’ experience working in a law firm.
Excellent knowledge of administrative procedures.
Ability to multi-task and exercise initiative and good judgment.
Able to work well in a team environment and independently.
Knowledge of DIVORCEmate and Amicus practice management software would be an asset but is not necessary.
Flexible and adaptable to changing work demands, volumes, and schedules.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent accuracy and organization skills.
A professional demeanour.
