Reporting to PICNet's Network Director, the Lead, Research and Knowledge Translation provides professional expertise in the areas of critical appraisal, epidemiologic, health services research and knowledge translation as it relates to infection prevention and control (IPC). Works in close partnership with the supervisor, colleagues and collaborators, as well as other experts both internal and external to PHSA, including health authorities and Ministry of Health.

The Lead, Research and Knowledge Translation role is primarily responsible for conducting and/or facilitating literature searches by first creating key research questions and developing a search strategy. Refining the evidence to be reviewed, conducting critical appraisal of literature and synthesizing evidence will be paramount along with identifying knowledge gaps and validating integrity of the evidence. Conducting research and knowledge translation projects are aspects of the position, as well as educating stakeholders about research methodologies and interpretation. Responsibilities can include writing and editing scientific manuscripts, reports, and other documents.

What you'll do:

• Undertake critical appraisals of epidemiological, statistical and scientific evidence and clinical research to conduct risk assessment, identify knowledge gaps, and validate data integrity.
• Synthesize and promote the utilization of research findings through knowledge translation strategies. Educate PICNet team and stakeholders about research methodologies and interpretation of relevant research studies.
• Develop, coordinate, lead and conduct research and knowledge translation projects for IPAC in consultation with PICNet team.
• Collaborate in the planning, design, and development of a framework for research, scientific analysis and knowledge translation to achieve PICNet goals. Contribute expertise to development of projects including methodologies, approaches, and models.
• Develop, write, coordinate and edit scientific manuscripts, reports and other knowledge translation products (e.g., evidence reviews, guidelines).

What you bring:

• A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Masters Degree in Epidemiology, Public or Population Health, Health Services Research or related discipline, PhD preferred; and a minimum of five (5) years' related experience in a research environment.
• Demonstrated experience working in the health care system and conducting research. Clinical and IPAC experience is considered an asset.

You will also have:

• Advanced knowledge of study designs, data collection and analysis.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct literature reviews and critical appraisals of epidemiological, statistical and scientific evidence and clinical research (e.g., expertise in using established tools/templates to assess quality of evidence).
• Demonstrated ability to write for a wide range of audiences (e.g., researchers, clinicians, the public).
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
• Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
• Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
• Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
• As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $ 80,935 - $116,344 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate's relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
