Closing Date: June 13, 2023 Reporting to the Compliance & Management Systems Superintendent, the Health & Safety Improvement Lead is responsible for identifying opportunities for continuous improvement of Highland Valley Coppers Health, Safety and Risk Management Systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing standards and procedures including associated support documentation, facilitating workshops and training sessions, developing analytical metrics to improve health and safety performance working closely with key stakeholders and risk owners.

Responsibilities: - Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental standards and procedures
- Develop and utilize data trending including statistical evaluations involving benchmark requirements and developing short-term and long-term solutions to addressing leading and lagging indicators
- Prepare implementation plans and define resource requirements (including skilled knowledge, time, materials), for continuous improvement priorities
- Using relevant safety, risk, process, and other data to identify and rank process improvement opportunities which will have a positive benefit to the reducing the company's risk rating
- Develop a project plan to achieve agreed targets within the defined scope and submit for approval including costs and budgeting
- Where the project team is cross-functional, define individual and team contributions required to achieve project targets
- Conduct preliminary investigations aimed at growing the knowledge surrounding existing priorities and how they are defined or addressed by regulatory bodies and other organizations
- Develop a stakeholder management plan and include required communications to involve and engage identified stakeholders
- Develop Change Management plans to effectively drive sustainable performance across the organization
- Define the relevant metrics to monitor and track relevant continuous improvement
- Identify, prioritize, and document improvements required in current processes and methods to incorporate into the on-going HVC System development work
- Coordinate team members to execute improvement projects, through the facilitation of working sessions and meetings with team members and identified key stakeholders/process owners to drive discussions surrounding current practices and proposed opportunities for improvement
- Inspect, audit and continuously evaluate the health and safety management system, workplace conditions, equipment and processes
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in applicable field, or a combination between relevant education and experience will be considered
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Health and Safety field dedicated to health and safety management systems
- Minimum 2 years' experience in project management or project coordination
- A solid knowledge of technical health and safety components and theories
- Ability to collaborate and work with all levels of an operation
- Capability to set own agenda to meet business objectives and targets
- Understanding of Change management and Management of change process
- Experience with conflict negotiations and management
- Ability to influence others and demonstrate leadership skills
- Strong written, oral and presentation skills
- Technical writing skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced environment, focuses on priorities, sets objectives and goals, measures performance and evaluates results
- Achievement of or working toward a CRSP designation would be an asset
