Reporting to the Senior Manager, E&M, the incumbent will work within a technical team to complete ongoing equipment and facilities activities. Equipment and systems will be located in a clean-room facility (controlled environment) purpose built for production of a sterile pharmaceutical product. To be successful in this role, the incumbent will need to show mastery of calibration and validation processes as well as strong leadership skills within the department. 

1.    Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and carry out scheduled calibration tasks on utilities, production, and quality control equipment
  • Schedule and oversee external maintenance and calibration activities for equipment 
  • Perform equipment maintenance or repair work, troubleshooting and engineering analysis
  • Investigate and resolve technical issues during commissioning, qualification, and operational phases
  • Assist in the continuous improvement of the E&M department
  • Create and evaluate Risk Assessments (e.g. FMEA)
  • Ensure strict implementation of company policies, SOPs and GMP regulations
  • Provide training to staff for operation, maintenance and calibration of the facility, utilities, production, and quality control equipment 
  • Maintain overall process control parameters for various environmental monitoring systems 
  • Prepare and review Qualification protocols (IQ, OQ and PQ)
  • Coach and oversee other team members to ensure smooth functioning of the E&M processes. 
  • Direct and organize the weekly activities of other team members 
  • Perform other tasks as required

2.    Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and minimum 3 years of experience working in a controlled environment or minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Previous experience working in a pharmaceutical or cGMP manufacturing
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in commissioning and qualification activities and equipment for industrial, pharmaceutical, or cleanroom facilities 
  • Possession of a valid level 1 First Aid Certificate is an asset
  • Strong leadership, team builder and motivation skills
  • Experience with technical writing and good documentation practices (GDP) 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively lead a team
  • The ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels in the organization
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks 
  • Resourceful and able to problem solve
  • Attention to detail and good time management
