Role Overview

Reporting to the Project Director, the Lead, Business Planning is responsible for managing the coordination and administration of a variety of business and commercial activities on behalf of the Project.

The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate day-to-day activities, business cadence, and communication for deliverables across all areas of business administration, commercial, people, and technical. They will be a strong communicator, responsible for consolidating technical and commercial project information into professional, executive-level materials.

This role provides broad exposure to the business, commercial and technical components of Project Delivery. It also provides the chance to be exposed to and interact with senior leaders at Teck and senior leaders across our partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Prepare materials for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors
  • Developing and coordinating materials for Project Steering Committee meetings and other business groups.
  • Developing memorandums, presentations, and other materials required for project management direction/decisions, and to advance key objectives
  • Create presentations for the Executive Leadership Team on a regular and ad hoc, basis with potential for both internal and external audiences, including delivery of presentations as required.
  • Lead the development of communications and study deliverables with the support of the project leadership team.
  • Collect and analyze data to support recommendations for business decisions.
  • Review, provide input, and comment on commercial and administrative documents relating to business administration activities.
  • Work to ensure robust reporting input and delivery to the Project Management Office, Functional groups, and the Project Steering Committee.
  • Work to provide timely, high-quality communication and messaging that enhances the Project's reputation.
  • Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Foster collaborative working relationships critical to success, with functional and project leadership.
  • Manage special projects critical to the Project's objectives.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-8 years within the mining industry, or a similar applicable complementary field.
  • A bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience, in Business Development, Commerce, Geoscience, or other related disciplines.
  • Broad understanding of project development; able to clearly articulate value.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate across organizational functions.
  • Ability to distill information, adjust and frame messaging for Executive-level audiences.
  • Results-oriented approach with excellent organizational, planning, and decision-making skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to prioritize amongst multiple projects at once.
  • High degree of initiative, integrity, discretion, accountability, and judgment.
  • Detail-oriented, process-driven with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Ability to collaborate, understanding how to achieve objectives through formal and informal channels.
  • Develops a positive rapport - management of relationships through transparency and cooperation.

Pay Range: CAD $122,000 - $150,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
