Golder has a new opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join our Geotechnical Engineering team on a full-time basis based in Burnaby, BC.

An overview of your role will include:
  • Collect, label, sort, and handle sample soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials to applicable standards
  • Conduct basic laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, and other construction materials to applicable standards or under some supervision of an intermediate or senior Lab Technician
  • Preparation and use of the appropriate equipment and apparatus for the required tasks for the manner in intended
  • Maintain detailed lab notes and ensure appropriate filing is completed and Monitor the progress of tests until completion
  • Record relevant data and observation through the appropriate means, medium, and/or equipment
  • Record test data, file and manage all project related laboratory notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation
  • Ensure proper care, handling, storage, and disposal of samples and products in accordance with laboratory and industry control and practices (e.g. WHMIS and MSDS)
  • Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, incidents, potential Fatal Risk Controls, and pSIFs
  • Clean, maintain, repair and calibrate appropriate laboratory equipment
  • Complete general laboratory cleaning and maintenance as required
  • If necessary, provide guidance/mentorship to entry level Golder employees
You will have a background in:
  • Geological, Geotechnical or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized Engineering Technology program, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Flexible schedule, with the ability to work overtime and/or weekends as required
  • Safety oriented attitude; current First Aid and WHMIS training will be considered an asset
