You are an analytical thinker who likes to gather information before making a decision. You know that safety procedures are vital for everyone's wellbeing and your strong interpersonal skills ensure you interact with others effectively. A natural self-starter, you work well independently and require minimal supervision. It's no secret you have a strong ability to "branch" out and make a new connection easily.
As the laboratory research assistant, you will work your eighth-month term starting in September 2022, at our Canfor Pulp Innovation office in Burnaby, BC. You will be aligned with the pulp and paper research team, investigating and improving processes, aiding in experimental design, and supporting pulp quality and environmental impact initiatives. You will be involved in several projects, including kraft pulping, refining, papermaking, and oxygen delignification. Your background in science arms you with the "solutions" needed.
You will put your research skills and academic experience to the test! As a Co-op student, you will learn and be involved with the simulation of mill processes in the laboratory and improve existing mill processes and pulp quality as well as reducing environmental impacts. Ideally, you are currently enrolled in Chemistry, Engineering, or other Science co-op program and have already mastered your PC skills. Previous laboratory experience will "spruce" up your application but is not needed to apply.
