Your new company
Expanding Vancouver Developer is looking to hire a Junior Project Manager. The company focuses on the creation of livable and engaging communities and they have $100 million worth of construction projects planned over the next five years. Your new role
Working closely with the VP Construction you will be part of a close knit team and will be exposed to many varied aspects of the development and construction process. Initially you will be assisting with construction of their upcoming high rise project in White Rock. The company utilises the services of an external construction management company so you would be functioning as the owner's representative in this instance. The role will also involve budgeting for upcoming projects, managing renovations of existing properties and broader development related activities related to development approvals, land acquisition or design management. Success in the role will lead to opportunities for career advancement within the company.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have 3-5 years' experience working with either a reputable Architectural Firm, General Contractor or Developer/Builder. You will need to have a strong understanding of project design, its associated technical processes and contract administration. A relevant technical education is a must, and could include an Architectural Degree, a Civil Engineering Degree/Diploma, or associated technical certificates that compliment a Construction qualification. This role requires someone who is both highly flexible and results oriented. You will have a keen eye for detail and be driven to identify problems before they arise. Effective communication is required, as you will be engaging with multiple stakeholders throughout the development and construction phases, and you must be able to confidently engage in technical discussions relating to the projects design. The company takes pride in advocating 'green' building practices and consequently those with LEED accreditation or exposure to working on projects of this nature will be highly regarded.
