Our award winning company is seeking a Jr. Procurement Specialist with a background in a fast paced manufacturing industry. This position will be responsible for purchasing components and materials based on production demand therefore ensuring production operates at an optimum level. You will also oversee and support new product introductions. This position requires routine interaction with internal cross-functional teams and external suppliers to meet tight deadlines and prioritize work loads. Exceptional communication skills, a willingness to travel, and high technical competency are key requirements for the role.

  • Execute purchase orders for goods and services in an accurate and timely manner and ensure that they are approved in accordance with specific policies and procedures
  • Negotiate with suppliers on pricing, payment terms, delivery requirements, and quantities
  • Apply and submit credit applications to vendors
  • Meet with vendors to discuss requirements and capacities, resolve issues that may arise, and maintain/strengthen relationships to ensure continuity of critical components
  • Effectively utilize communication skills to provide input to key stakeholders on current and pending variability/fluctuation in price, product availability, and delivery schedules
  • Assess and maintain optimal stock levels by establishing safety stock and reorder levels using ERP
  • Update purchase orders and vendor-related information in ERP
  • Work with the Finance team to approve and support resolution of issues/discrepancies
  • Facilitate on-time payment to vendors and suppliers
  • Manage inventory and purchasing of office supplies as well as facility consumables
  • Perform vendor visits when required

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration, Operation Management or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a Manufacturing industry with 2 plus years in Procurement and/or Supply Chain
  • Intermediate skills in MRP/ERP systems is preferred
  • Experience with contract manufacturing and dealing with offshore/domestic suppliers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to liaise at all levels
  • A strong sense of urgency with competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines
