Junior Accountant

3 month contract for a Junior Accountant in the construction sector.

Your new company
This growing real estate development group has business lines in civil infrastructure construction, industrial, commercial, and residential development. They are looking for a bright, motivated junior accounting professional to join their civil contracting team in Vancouver for a 3-month contract.

Your new role
Joining the civil contracting team you will working directly with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, Superintendents and Accounting, as part of a collaborative team-based culture. As a junior accountant you will be assigned tasks by the Project Accountant, as well as the Director of Finance. You will liaise with Project Managers on commitment issues, to reconcile purchase orders and invoice differences while creating change orders when necessary. Aside from these special projects the daily activities will include; Coordinating and managing invoices and purchase orders, ensuring dailies and all supporting documents are complete before scanning into the ERP system, scanning and tagging of all supporting documents into Timberscan and maintaining vendors in Spectrum.

What you'll need to succeed
This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills will be vital as you will be working closely with the project managers, as well as the accounting team on a whole. Experience in a construction accounting will be a strong asset, and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role is necessary. Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel and experience with Spectrum or a similar accounting software will be instrumental to your success.
