This posting is for one full-time contract Job Developer/Employment Placement Specialist, with the WorkBC Langley Centre.

Must be able to work flexible hours (including some evenings and, on occasion some Saturdays).

The Role
The Job Developer/Employment Specialist (JD) primary focus is on liaising with employers and professional associations to obtain work experience opportunities for program participants with barriers to employment. The JD is responsible to assist Participants with job search strategies, providing tools and resources to help prepare and support job maintenance. The JD also contributes to the program team by assisting with Participant recruitment & screening and liaising with community organizations.

Responsibilities

• Assist with program marketing and participant recruitment;
• Connect with community organizations who provide referrals, wrap around supports and coordinate guest speaking workshops;
• Assist with participant needs assessments to determine eligibility for program and job readiness;
• Maintain and build positive Employer relationships;
• Coordinate and schedule Employer Partner activities in the program, such as guest speakers on hiring practices, labour market information, mock interviewers and job hiring events;
• Assist participants to access:
    •One or more work experiences, •Job Shadowing opportunities, •Informational Interviews •Wage Subsidy Work Experiences, •Direct Job Placement, •Mentorship;


• Assist employers with onboarding and the development of training;
• Monitor and provide ongoing support during and after completion of program;
• Assist participants and employers to resolve issues that may arise during work experience;
• Participate in local business and industry meetings (i.e. Chamber of Commerce);
• Maintain records of participant progress and provide updates through monthly reports and regular team meetings;
• Review client outcomes against performance targets, contribute strategies to ensure program targets are met, participate in strategic planning and program review sessions as scheduled;
• Provide coverage for team members including facilitation for in class sessions;
• Foster positive, productive working relationships and work collaboratively to contribute to a positive work environment based on mutual respect;
• Participate in Training Group's Quality Management System (ISO9001:2015);
• Participate in Training Group's Job Developer cross-program team.

To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
• Post-Secondary degree, in an employment services related field or, equivalent level of knowledge and experience;
• Certified Career Development Practitioner ( CCDP ) an asset;
• Certificate or diploma in Job Development an asset;

Demonstrated experience:

• Building and maintaining partnerships with employers, community agencies and other stakeholders.
• Providing customer service and resolving issues;
• Knowledge of the labour market in Langley and BC an asset;

In addition;
• Strong oral, written and communication skills an asset;
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule
• Willingness to travel within the Lower Mainland ;
• Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle;
• Good computer skills: MS Office Suite, database entry and the use of online-demand meeting applications and desk-top sharing;
• Satisfactory completion of a criminal record check.
