JOB OPPORTUNITY

Position Information

Location Coquitlam Campus Salary Range
$31.53 - $36.94 per hour. Salary placement on scale based on qualifications and experience relevant to position.
The Opportunity
The Job Developer is responsible for helping participants understanding the local labour market and career pathways. This role involves securing informational interviews, arranging job shadowing opportunities, and negotiating employment placements. Additionally, the Job Developer assists clients with resume creation, interview preparation, job search techniques, onboarding, training, and ongoing job maintenance. A key aspect of the role is building and maintaining strong relationships with employers in the trades sector.

RESPONSIBILITIES :


Employer Relations:


    • Establish and maintain relationships with employer networks.
    • Attend trade industry events and job fairs.
    • Educate and support employers with working with client base.
    • Identify and secure suitable employers for work experience placements.
    • Provide ongoing support to employers hosting work experience clients.
    • Arrange informational interviews for participants.

    • Maintaining up to date knowledge of industry requirements and the labour market.

Facilitation & Client Support:

    • Provide small group or one-on-one instruction on job search techniques, including:

      • Resume and cover letter writing
      • Interview preparation
      • Job maintenance strategies
      • Obtaining references

    • Assist clients in identifying employer leads, networking opportunities, and potential job placements.
    • Support participants in developing skills necessary for workplace success.
Administration & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of participant and employer interactions as required by the Training Group and the funder.
    • Prepare and submit reports and performance statistics as needed.
    • Track client progress and outcomes against performance targets, contributing strategies to improve results.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO documentation standards.
    • Participate in team meetings, strategic planning, and program review sessions.
    • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with colleagues, program participants, community service providers, regulatory bodies, and employers.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT IT TAKES
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE :


    • Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in employment services.
    • Certificate or diploma in job development (an asset).
    • Experience in the trades sector.
    • 3 to 5 years' experience in a job development role.
    • Excellent team player; ability to calmly handle changing circumstances
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Career Development Practitioner certification (an asset).
    • Travel within Lower mainland is required.
    • Satisfactory completion of a Criminal Record check including a vulnerable population check.

Additional Information
Work will be scheduled Monday to Friday.
