MDA's Aviation business delivers large software centric systems that enable our customers to meet the challenges of global aviation operations. Working in multidisciplinary teams, we build systems to support our customer's business. We are seeking staff to define and deliver the next generation of air navigation software tools for the aviation industry.

Position Description:
We are looking for an Intermediate Systems Engineer with aviation domain knowledge and data modelling experience to join our team. This will be an exciting opportunity to work with our customers and projects teams, demonstrate leadership and assume significant ownership over establishing technical baselines and following these baselines through to successful delivery. Consideration will also be given to candidates with significant software engineering experience, aviation domain knowledge and data modelling, database design and development, who are interested in growing their career in a systems engineering role.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will leverage your systems engineering experience over the entire life cycle of our systems. Combining your analytical skills with a strong understanding of customer and internal needs, you will bring your expertise to the development and test teams. You will also contribute as an individual to the design, implementation and test of our systems.



Responsibilities:
As an Intermediate Systems Engineer with a focus on aeronautical data, you will have the opportunity to establish ownership and demonstrate your abilities in all phases of the system life-cycle, including:
  • Creating engineering solutions that are attractive to our customers and are cost-effective
  • Participating in working sessions to understand our customers objectives, requirements and constraints
  • Capturing system specifications and interfaces
  • Participating in structured reviews of engineering deliverables
  • Representing the customers perspective during design, implementation, integration and test phases
  • Providing technical leadership to development teams, reviewing implementation and testing
  • Supporting system test and acceptance
  • Supporting business development and creating commercial offers to our customers
  • Other duties as required


General requirements
  • A University degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years' experience, or established combination of education and experience in systems engineering
  • Experience in the Aviation domain or proven experience in a complex domain
  • Proficient knowledge of the full system or product life cycle and how the system engineering discipline is applied successfully to each phase
  • experience and the ability to contribute to system engineering deliverables
  • Experience in the integration and test of large systems with many suppliers
  • A team oriented approach to solving technical problems within budget and schedule constraints
  • The ability to work within a large organization and understand dependencies and stakeholder needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective presentation skills.


Technical requirements - some combination of:
  • Experience working with customers
  • Experience with large, software systems grounded understanding of software engineering
  • Experience with complex data modeling, database design, development and implementation
  • Experience with requirements management familiarity with tools such as DOORS or DOORS NG
  • Knowledge of geospatial information and formats available in the market
  • Knowledge of Aviation technical standards, such as AIXM or ARINC 424
  • Knowledge of Aircraft navigation concepts and systems

The ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this position.
