MDA&rsquo s Aviation business delivers large software centric systems that enable our customers to meet the challenges of global aviation operations. Working in multidisciplinary teams, we build systems to support our customer&rsquo s business. We are seeking staff to define and deliver the next generation of air navigation software tools for the aviation industry.

Position Description:
We are looking for a proven Workflow, UX, and/or UI designer to join our team in Richmond, BC (Vancouver Lower Mainland). This is an exciting opportunity to work with our customers and projects teams, demonstrate leadership and assume significant ownership over the design and delivery of our broad offering of Air Navigation Systems.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will leverage your creative design skills and disciplined engineering experience over the entire life cycle of our systems. Engaging with customers and Aviation SMEs to understand the business objectives, you will translate the business and user needs into the designs and specifications. You will be closely integrated with the implementation teams ensuring the successful deliver of the system workflow and user interface.

As a Workflow, UX and UI designer, you will have the opportunity to establish ownership and demonstrate your abilities in all phases of the system life-cycle:
  • Create highly functional web and desktop application solutions that are attractive to our customers and are cost-effective
  • Conduct working sessions to understand our customers objectives, requirements, usage patterns and workflow needs
  • Apply Workflow, UX, and UI design disciplines to creatively address our customer&rsquo s requirements
  • Lead storyboarding, wireframing and mockup activities
  • Capture workflow requirements and UI designs, specifications and APIs
  • Provide technical leadership to the front end development teams, providing guidance on user experience design, reviewing implementation and testing
  • Conduct structured reviews of deliverables
  • Resolve customer concerns as design, implementation, integration and test progress
  • Support system test and acceptance
  • Support business development and creating commercial offers to our customers
  • Other duties as required

General requirements
  • A University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Bachelor&rsquo s degree and 5 years&rsquo experience, in Workflow, UX, or UI design
  • Experience in the Aviation domain is a big plus, but not required
  • Proven ability to focus on the customer and end user, understand their needs and deliver results
  • Proven ability provide leadership and participate in the full lifecycle of development and test
  • A team oriented approach to solving technical problems within budget and schedule constraints
  • The ability to work within a large organization and understand dependencies and stakeholder needs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective presentation skills.

Technical requirements - some combination of:
  • Experience working with customer representatives and end users
  • Experience or expertise in one or more of Workflow, UX, or UI design
  • Experience or expertise with API design
  • Experience or expertise in engineering design disciplines (reliability, maintainability, availability, security)
  • Experience with large, software systems grounded understanding of software engineering
  • Experience with requirements management tools, such as DOORS or DOORS NG

The ability to obtain a security clearance is required for this position.
