The Role

BGC is looking for an Intermediate Geological Engineer or Geoscientist to support our Pipeline sector work. You will gain valuable industry experience working at a multinational Engineering firm. This position can be located at one of the following BGC offices: Vancouver, Kamloops, Edmonton or Calgary.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a project engineer or geoscientist for pipeline geohazard assessment and geological engineering design projects
  • Participate in project management including scoping new work, proposal writing and identifying new opportunities
  • Potentially manage projects, including budgets, schedules, staffing, and scope
  • Train and mentor junior professional staff in the field and office
  • Help promote BGC vision, values and culture amongst BGC staff
  • Regular travel to project locations both domestic and international

Required Education, Experience & Competencies

  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant professional experience
  • Professional Engineer or Geoscientist with EGBC, or similar association in the jurisdiction of employment
  • A fundamental understanding of terrain interpretation, engineering geology, geohazard assessment, field investigation, and geotechnical engineering design, combined with the ability to integrate and work with hydrotechnical, geomatics and software disciplines
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Experience in operating pipeline geohazard assessment and management, and new pipeline routing, design and construction is an asset


Position Requirements

Drug & Alcohol Testing

To ensure we meet our client’s compliance requirements and our workplace health and safety commitments, BGC has a drug and alcohol policy that applies to this position.  The policy states that an employee may be required to take a drug and alcohol test prior to engaging in field work. This testing could be requested within an employee’s first week or in the future, as required. It is important to note that some clients also require random drug and alcohol testing and testing in the event of a health and safety accident or incident.

Driver’s License and Passport

In order to perform this role, BGC requires that you have a passport, in the event you are required to travel for work and a valid driver's license, in the event you will be required to drive a vehicle for work. As part of our background screening, BGC will require you to submit a current driver’s abstract upon hire.
