Great role for a self-motivated CPA student who is eager to own full-cycle accounting tasks while learning from designated accountants on a tight-knit and high-performance team. There is opportuity for long-term career growth over the years.
Who- the Company:
Our client is a very well-established, well-known, and beloved Canadian company. The company has been around for well over 50 years and they have built a fun-loving yet hardworking corporate culture. This employer fosters a social work environment that emphasizes teamwork and mentorship.
What- the Role:
Our client is seeking to hire a new Intermediate Accountant for their corporate accounting team of 12+ people (over half of whom are designated CPAs). The new Intermediate Accountant will report into a Manager, Accounting and will work alongside other accountants at junior, intermediate, and senior levels. This Accountant will get to see the big picture of an important part of the company’s operation, and will conduct full-cycle accounting- everything from general ledger reconciliation to journal entries to AP & AR (with help from AP and AR clerks) to financial statements to budgeting to cashflow projections. This is a fantastic opportunity for an up & coming accountant who is looking for a variety of accounting tasks, and who would love to learn from designated CPAs. The Intermediate Accountant will be communicating with the accounting team, of course, but also with non-accounting colleagues in departments like marketing and with external stakeholders.
This company’s accounting team is diverse and close-knit. Before the pandemic, they had team lunches once a week and various events throughout the year. They’ve retained that social culture, but for now it takes place virtually rather than in-person.
Who- the Candidate:
We are looking for a CPA student who has already built excellent full-cycle accounting knowledge through a minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience, and who is keen to gain new accounting skills while they pursue their CPA designation. Ideally candidates will be on track to write the CFE in 2021 or 2022, perhaps 2023. Candidates will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and will have a friendly and professional manner. Strong intermediate-to-senior level skills in Excel are required (e.g.- V look-ups and pivot tables), and experience using Sage software is an asset. The successful candidate will be passionate about collaboration and teamwork. There is opportunity for long-term career growth as the company seeks to develop and promote loyal and high-performance employees over the years.
During Covid-19 physical distancing, the Intermediate Accountant will work remotely, and will be provided with a work laptop. Longer-term, the Accountant will work at the corporate head office in Greater Vancouver.
Base salary commensurate with accounting skills, post-secondary education, and work experience. This company financially supports employees with CPA and PD costs, and the company also provides good health and dental benefits. Longer-term, the employee will become eligible for a generous RRSP match, a short-term incentive program (bonus), and other perks.
