Founded in 1954, the Heavy Equipment Operating (HEO) Program at Vancouver Island University has become one of the largest post-secondary heavy equipment training sites in Western Canada. Today, the school operates 26 pieces of mid-size earth-moving equipment. We also have 2 mobile trailers with 4 motion heavy equipment/forestry simulators in each. Our 40-acre site south of Nanaimo has a multitude of staging areas where we replicate tasks associated with different industries.
As the Heavy Equipment Operator Program Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching all aspects of the theory and practical skills required to operate and maintain heavy equipment. You will undertake student evaluation and grading and work to ensure program standards are maintained. Your role as the Instructor finds you operating in a team-based environment to deliver both classroom and practical objectives for clients throughout BC.
