We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers.
With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science-based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions.

We are Visioneers.
We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Your Impact Starts Here - Join a team advancing meaningful, relationship-based engagement with Indigenous Nations and communities throughout British Columbia and Yukon. In this role, you'll use your expertise in Indigenous engagement to contribute to environmental assessment, permitting, and Indigenous Knowledge studies that shape projects across Western Canada.

This is an ideal opportunity for an engagement practitioner who brings experience working with Indigenous communities and is ready for structured mentorship, expanded responsibility, and long-term career growth within WSP's Indigenous Relations and Earth & Environment teams.

We strongly encourage Indigenous candidates to apply and welcome lived experience, cultural knowledge, and perspectives you bring.

Your Impact
  • Support Indigenous engagement planning and delivery for environmental assessment and permitting processes, helping to coordinate respectful, transparent, and culturally aligned engagement activities.
  • Contribute to Indigenous Knowledge and Traditional Land Use studies by assisting in information gathering, documentation, and coordination with Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and community representatives.
  • Track issues, commitments, and perspectives shared by Indigenous Nations to support integration across technical disciplines and regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in community visits, workshops, field programs, and meetings across BC (including remote travel), building your hands-on experience in community-based work.
  • Help assess potential project impacts on Indigenous rights and interests and support development of mitigation and monitoring measures.
  • Collaborate with senior Indigenous engagement practitioners, gaining exposure to strategy development, relationship-building, and best practices in Indigenous participation.
  • Contribute to proposals, reports, and internal initiatives that help advance WSP's Indigenous engagement practice.
  • Support WSP's Indigenous Relations team by helping maintain and strengthen relationships with Indigenous leadership, communities, groups, and businesses.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • You bring over 7 years experience working with Indigenous Nations or communities-through engagement, community-based research, permitting processes, environmental work, or governance roles.
  • You have strong knowledge of Indigenous history, culture, governance, and rights in BC, either through lived experience or education.
  • You have strong organizational abilities, can manage multiple tasks, and enjoy working in dynamic community and regulatory environments.
  • You are comfortable traveling within BC, including in community, on the land, and in remote locations. You hold a valid driver's licence.
  • You value relationship-building, reciprocity, and learning from Indigenous Knowledge Keepers, Elders, and leadership.
  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language or lived Indigenous experience is considered a meaningful asset.
  • You are eager to grow-this role includes structured mentorship, support from senior advisors, and clear pathways into more senior Indigenous engagement roles over time.
