On behalf of our client, a leading development and construction company based in Surrey B.C., we are actively looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager to join their team. Operating in North America for more than 40 years, they have built a trusted reputation within their industry and are passionate about improving the quality of the communities they touch.

This is a new role which has been developed out of need for the company in order to implement solid HR systems as the company continues to expand and grow. Location: Surrey, BC


  • Plan, develop, organize and manage HR department affairs and activities, goals and objectives, and adhere to departmental budget
  • Guide the development of corporate culture and strategies to deepen engagement with team members and implement retention strategies
  • Take on an advisory role to provide and guidance and support to managers with regards to HR procedures, policies and best practices, and maintain regular and frequent communication with managers via phone, email and in-person
  • Responsible for the Employee Handbook and associated policies and procedures; ensure business units adhere to HR policies and procedures
  • Liaise effectively with the payroll department
  • Ensure proper recordkeeping for employee documentation and related HR records
  • Stay informed of all labour legislation and understand its impact on company management and policy maintenance
  • Manage and administer company-wide compensation and benefits programs
  • Implement and execute return-to-work programs
  • Assist with the development of disciplinary policies and procedures and ensure Managers adhere to procedures
  • Provide conflict and problem resolution resources and guidance
  • Effectively utilize job boards, applicant tracking systems and HRIS
  • Compile key HR statistical reports and monitor metrics
  • Identify human resource needs and recruit new team members:
    • Develop and execute recruiting plans/strategy, manage the interview process, and onboard/offboard/exit interviews
    • Create job descriptions, post openings, review applicants, conduct pre-screen calls, setting up/conduct interviews, and test and selecting candidates
    • Follow up with rejection letters and/or calls
    • Prepare new offer letters and packages, along with onboarding new employees
  • Take ownership of company-wide performance management and coaching process
  • Incident investigation and health and safely representative/WCB claims
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media and employees
  • Other relevant HR duties as needed


  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources is preferred
  • CPHR designation is an asset
  • 5+ years of experience in an HR role, including management and recruitment experience
  • Proven candidate sourcing and relationship building skills
  • High degree of familiarity and comfort with technology and new software
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Superior communication and interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to deal with a diverse group of individuals, and ability to establish strong cooperative working relationships
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices
