Hastings Entertainment Inc. is pleased to be seeking an individual interested in furthering their career in Human Resources. At this time, we are accepting applications for a Human Resources Coordinator.

Position Summary: Under the general supervision of the Manager - Human Resources, this position is responsible for delivering a broad range of HR services to Hastings, including coordinating recruitment initiatives, while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees.

Responsibilities include:
    •Processes HR paperwork and entries into HRIS •Creates and develops internal and external correspondence as appropriate •Manages and maintains lists of regulatory requirements; prepares reports as required •Full cycle recruitment including: posting jobs internally and externally, conducting telephone screens and in person interviews, completing reference checks, maintaining recruitment bulletin boards •Conducts site orientations and training •Assists with responding to general employee questions on HR and payroll matters. •Provides advice to employees and managers on matters relating to HR and Labour Relations •Coordinates and maintain Employee Rewards and Recognition Program •Assists with HR initiatives such as: surveys, projects and policy and procedure revisions •Attends and prepares minutes for various meetings as required •Communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments •Complies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations •Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Successful candidates will demonstrate the following qualifications:
    •Two years experience in an HR administrative and/or generalist role, preferably in a union environment •Familiar with current employment legislation/ labour jurisprudence •Ability to work well in a team environment, strong communication and organizational skills •Excellent knowledge of MS Office and HR Information Systems, JD Edwards/Ceridian experience an asset •Proven track-record of responsiveness and meeting deadlines. •Must be able to work flexible hours •CHRP designation and HRMA membership an asset •Post secondary diploma/certificate in Human Resources or similar preferred •Experience in the gaming/horseracing/hospitality industry an asset
