Do you care about social issues and are you committed to working collaboratively with those involved in the criminal justice system and those that are homeless?

 

Can you develop rapport and trust relationships with others, assisting people to identify their needs and working with them to meet these needs in respectful and non-judgmental ways?

 

Do you have training and demonstrated competence in counselling, conflict resolution, and trauma-informed practice?

 

Do you have training and experience in working with adults who live with FASD, trauma and/or histories of addiction?

 

 

If you answered yes to these questions, we would like to talk with you about joining the Westcoast Genesis Society as a House Supervisor. We are currently hiring full and part time staff.

 

 

Why we exist and what we do

We provide transitional housing at our Maria Keary Cottage Community Residential Facility (CRF) for men on conditional release from prison, assist them in following the terms of their release and support them in being successfully in the community. This includes operation of the only residential program in Canada for men living with FASD. We also have transitional housing for men that are homeless, some of whom have had involvement with the criminal justice system.

 

 

Qualifications:                

  • Reliability Status security clearance is a condition of employment.
  • University degree or two-year college diploma preferably in criminology, social work, psychology or related field is a condition of employment.
  • Valid Emergency First Aid Level One and FOODSAFE certificates.
  • Training and experience in basic counselling, conflict resolution and cognitive/behavioral strategies.
  • Training and experience working with clients with neurological deficits (e.g. FASD, brain-injured individuals) and specifically in effective intervention strategies for adults living with FASD desirable (asset).

Hours of Work:                 

Full-time staff work 12-hour Day and Night shifts including weekends and holidays under a variance approved by the Employment Standards Branch.
