HOSPITAL- BASED GENERAL PEDIATRICIAN

Clinical Teaching Unit (CTU)/Complex Care

BC Children's Hospital & the University of British Columbia, Department of Pediatrics are seeking a Clinician Specialist to provide clinical and academic services.

This will be a shared position, distributing your time between inpatient General Pediatrics and Complex Care. In addition to inpatient services on CTU, other clinical work may include consultation services to surgical and non-surgical patients, procedural sedation on the wards, rapid access clinic and service on surge units. You will also provide physician services in the General Pediatrics, Complex Care Program. Duties include new consultations and ongoing care of patients with complexity as part of an inpatient admitting/consulting service and an outpatient clinic and will be engaged in teaching both with and without patient care.

In addition to a demonstration of a strong commitment to academic hospital-based General Pediatrics, applicants will also have a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty and/or sub-specialty credentials and eligibility for registration in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.

You will have exemplary clinical skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with families in the care of children along with a strong commitment to best practice and advancing knowledge in the field of General Pediatrics.

The successful candidate will be appointed as Clinical Faculty at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Academic rank and clinical salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Priority will be given to those who have demonstrated a commitment to hospital based practice and skills outlined above. Opportunities will be available to develop additional skills in quality improvement, complex care, procedural sedation, education and research. PALS or the equivalent certification is an expectation.

The anticipated start date is October 2020.
