Position Overview: The Heavy Duty apprentice is responsible to perform minor diagnostics and minor repairs, and servicing to all equipment in fleet, under direct supervision of a ticketed journeyman.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions:
  • Troubleshooting and repairing Caterpillar and other mechanical equipment
  • Interface with customers, products and sales support
  • Working with the Supervisor on various tasks
  • Providing support with reference to on-site safety requirements
  • Maintain Finning Customer Service Commitment
  • Various related duties as required


**Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement**

Specific Skills & Knowledge:
  • Completion, or in process of completing, Finning S-Level Courses
  • Dedication to safety
  • Team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line will be considered an asset
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Lawson, SIS (Service Information System) and warranty systems considered assets


Education & Experience:
  • Willing to work towards a Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
  • Must currently be at a 1st or 2nd Year Apprentice Level
  • Completion of grade 12 (not including a general equivalent diploma)
