In partnership with the B.C. Ministry of Health, Fraser Health is looking to hire Health Care Support Workers (HCSW) and support them in becoming qualified to be registered as a Health Care Assistant through the Health Careers Access Program (HCAP).

What will HCAP offer you?

As a HCSW at Long-Term Care or Assisted Living facilities you will alternate between completing the Health Care Assistant program at an assigned post secondary institution and getting on the job experience at a Long Term Care facility. During the education sessions you will be paid a weekly stipend and while working at the long-term care facility would receive an hourly rate. Your registration and cost of acquiring food safe, first aide and English language equivalency testing will all be covered.

Upon graduating from the HCA training program, you will be eligible to register with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry and seek employment as a qualified HCA.

This program is eligible to Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents;

As a Health Care Support Worker you will:
    •Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse or another regulated healthcare professional. •Perform a variety of non-direct and/or non-clinical healthcare supports to clients, residents, families, and/or visitors in long term care, assisted living and home settings in accordance with the established care plan and safety requirements.

Education & Experience
    •Grade 10, including successful completion of English 10 or equivalency.

Knowledge & Abilities
    •Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. •Ability to deal with others optimally. •Ability to coordinate work. •Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. •Ability to operate related equipment.
