, a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 19, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community.
BCCH provides a large number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute (BCCHRI) in partnership with the University of British Columbia. The new Teck Acute Care Centre
that opened in October 2017 is the heart of the BC Children's Hospital and BC Women's Hospital's flagship for the transformation of child health in BC. Designed with patients, their families and care teams in mind, the redevelopment project's vision is for a campus of patient-centered care that operates in an environment of quality, excellence and innovation. In the spring of 2020 SHHC will relocate to the BCCH campus into renovated space with state of the art single-patient/family rooms with integrated technology and equipment to support the delivery of patient-centred care.

The University of British Columbia and BC Children's Hospital are seeking a visionary Division Head to provide clinical and academic leadership of the Division of Developmental Pediatrics. There is the option to combine this position with the SHHC Senior Medical Director role, depending upon the preference of the successful candidate. It is an exciting time for this division that is currently undergoing a significant transformation to enhance its clinical care and academic mandates to better serve the acute and chronic patient populations being cared for at the only children's hospital and pediatric rehabilitation in the province. There is a growing academic focus of excellence in Quality Improvement. The division is currently comprised of both full-time and part-time (9.50 FTE) developmental pediatricians as well as faculty members within the community.
The Division, currently situated at (SHHC) promotes excellence in clinical practice, education, and research in child development and rehabilitation. Its mission is to develop, share and utilize new knowledge that will enhance the health of children with developmental conditions and their families.
Multidisciplinary clinics/programs include in-patient and outpatient Acute Rehabilitation, Neuromotor Program including sensory (hearing and vision impairment) and Developmental and Behavioural Conditions (including Autism Spectrum Disorders, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and Intellectual Disorders). The Division provides leadership across the province to support care coordination and best clinical practices through Provincial Diagnostic programs and Child Health BC, a provincial network supporting prevention and clinical care for children and youth. This includes outreach clinics and telemedicine services.
As the successful candidate for the Division Head position you will have demonstrated both a commitment to academic and clinical excellence in Developmental Pediatrics over several years and the leadership and management skills that are necessary to ensure high quality clinical service and academic productivity. Within this responsibility, the successful candidate will work actively to encourage a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the Division and will promote patient safety in a family centered environment.
You will have passed or be eligible for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada examinations in Pediatrics or comparable qualifications, and will have completed a recognized training program in Developmental Pediatrics. The successful candidate will be appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor or Clinical Professor in Pediatrics, commensurate with qualifications and experience as set forth by the guidelines for Pediatric Clinical Faculty Appointment at UBC Faculty of Medicine. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
