Burnaby Youth Custody Services is the only youth custody centre in the province which, as a key component of the youth justice system, provides an emotionally and physically safe custodial environment for young persons in conflict with the law. Youth Custody Centres are legally designated facilities pursuant to federal and provincial legislation, with a primary mandate to protect public safety through the provision of rehabilitative programs and services. Youth Justice contributes to public safety by promoting the development of law abiding behaviour primarily through an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach.

Under the direction of the Director of Programs, the Health Care Supervisor provides direction and leadership to professional staff within the Health Care Department and plans, manages and evaluates 24 hour / 7 days a week health care services to youths at Burnaby Youth Custody Services.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Must have or be immediately eligible to obtain registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), formerly known as the College of Registered Nurses' of British Columbia (CRNBC).
  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in a hospital, prison, mental health or residential care facility.
  • Preference may be given to applicants with experience as a nurse in a prison or working with high risk youths.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Must be willing to attain a valid Occupational First Aid Level 2 certificate.
