Non-Union Instructor - Auxiliary


The City of Surrey's Community Recreation Services Department is currently recruiting for auxiliary recreation Program Instructors to enthusiastically organize and lead a series of Guitar Classes. This opportunity requires an upbeat, responsible individual with a background in Music.


    • Teach basic guitar skills through exercises and games. • Plan, organize and facilitate art/music classes for children. • Instructing, motivating, and inspiring students in their pursuit of artistic excellence. • Engaging the learners in differentiated learning experiences according to the range of skill levels. • Plan and deliver enjoyable, structured activities. • Perform housekeeping task and put away equipment. • Communicate with parents.


    • Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by some post-secondary education from a recognized institution or an equivalent acceptable combination of training and experience. • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C with AED certification. • One year of experience in teaching music. • High-Five Certification or willingness to obtain within the first six months. • Experience working with Children aged 6-12. • Ability to instruct basic musical skills • Excellent leadership, organizational and customer service skills. • Creative and energetic teaching style where the children are engaged and actively.

Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of a Police Information Check/Vulnerable Sector Check. Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
