This role is ideal for graduates within the Engineering/Architectural disciplines who would like to be on path to become project managers. The role will allow the incumbent to experience construction on site as a Field Engineer/Expediter and learn construction processes on the field hands on. On completion of some projects the role will migrate to a Project Coordinator back in the office and have duties that are more documentation and coordination based. After such training on both the field and documentation, the incumbent will have gained valuable skills sets to become a successful Construction Manager.

The primary role of the Field Engineer/Expediter is to act as a level 2 OFA onsite and work with the Construction Manager and Site Superintendent to ensure project construction is executed in a safe, timely, and efficient manner while maintaining integrity of design. The secondary role is to assist the project team with overall administration of the project. Reporting to the Site Superintendent and Construction Manager, the Field Engineer/Expediter is accountable as an onsite level 2 OFA and ensuring that project administration work and correspondence is performed efficiently and accurately.


  • Administration of Health & Safety program on site
  • Assist in achieving the project budget and meet or exceed target net margin
  • Support to meet or beat all project milestones and project schedule
  • Primarily responsible for assisting in coordinating, motivating and facilitating the completion of the project deficiencies and project closeout within 30 days from occupancy

Safety and Administration

  • Responsible to be familiar with and promote health and safety program, policies and procedures
  • Responsible to lead by example in the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment at the worksite

Contract Administration

  • Assist Site Superintendent in interpretation of construction documents, specifications, and scopes of work with site personnel; assist in generating onsite RFIs
  • Assist/act as a liaison with design consultant visits, obtain field reports prior to consultant leaving site and distribute to appropriate parties
  • Assist the Construction Manager with assembling monthly reports for projects as required
  • Review the shop drawing submittals to ensure they generally comply with the specification submittal requirements prior to submitting the shop drawings to the CM for approval
  • Manage documents with Timberline as directed by the CM
  • Become familiar with the sites and assist CM as required in field reviews


  • Architectural, Civil Engineering, Construction Management degree/diploma/license
  • Graduate considered; previous construction field experience an asset
  • Can work in a multi-discipline (design/build) environment
  • Level 2 Occupational First Aid (two-day training will be provided by client)
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Word and Excel. Knowledge of MS Project and Timberline Project Management is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – persuasive communication style preferred
