WSP is currently seeking a Geotechnical Mining Engineer to join our Environment team, located at our Vancouver, BC office.

What you'll bring to WSP:

•Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, geological engineering, rock mechanics or any other relevant discipline, graduate degree in geotechnics is an asset;
•Intermediate- to senior-level of experience (10+ years) in mining: tailings dams, waste rock dump, mine waste leach heap ponds, water management infrastructure;
•Member of EGBC;
•Multilingual English and Spanish is an asset;
•Experience acting as an Engineer of Record (EoR);
•Experience conducting Dam Safety Inspections (DSI) and Dam Safety Reviews (DSR);
•Experience with in-situ and laboratory tests for geotechnical exploration and characterization;
•Experience with Geotechnical instrumentation (planning, installations and interpretation);
•Experience with construction of mining structure such dams, waste rock dumps, ponds, etc.;
•Good knowledge of the applicable calculation methods (bearing capacity, slope stability, liquefaction potential, etc.);
•Good Knowledge of Canadian codes and standards, such as the Canadian Dam Association (CDA) guidelines;
•Autonomy and excellent working skills in multidisciplinary teams;
•Sense of initiative, attention to detail & team spirit;
•Willing to work in remote sites in Canada and internationally for limited periods of time (e.g. site inspections, etc.).
