General Manager


Our client, a privately held service based business that specializes in commercial and industrial HVAC, Refrigeration and Plumbing is looking to add a General Manager to their team. 


Role and Responsibilities:


Day-to-Day Operations

  • Assist the dispatching operation to ensure appropriate technician selection for type of service
  • Evaluates work load and schedules work in a way that best utilizes manpower and maximizes profits
  • Ensures that materials and equipment are ordered and dispensed for scheduled jobs
  • Generates reports and measures of departmental operations as well as records all inventory, tools and vehicles and reviews reports with management
  • Instructs technicians on proper use of materials and quality workmanship
  • Full financial responsibility for operations
  • Approving Invoices
  • Approving Maintenance contracts
  • Approving Quotes under 10K
  • Preparing larger quotes and reviewing with President
  • Oversees facility and equipment maintenance, ensuring that assets are protected and controlled
  • Monitors preventive maintenance of vehicles to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintains an organized, clean and safe work area
  • Observes all safety and Company rules and regulations in the performance of duties

Customer and Technician Relations

  • Maintain ongoing training of Technicians
  • Customer escalation issues/satisfaction
  • Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Manage and develop the staff, which includes hiring, terminating and disciplining of employees, scheduling employees, setting work priorities, conducting staff
  • Delivery of goals and metrics for assigned group
  • Ensure all process and procedures are followed
  • Identify and communicate where improvements can be utilized
  • Quality assurance on all work performed at customer facilities
  • Meetings, counselling employees, evaluating performance and directing work assignments to ensure effective use of resources and customer satisfaction
  • New staff and new local customer on-boarding
  • Ensures that employees have proper tools for the job and that they are properly maintained
  • Evaluates staff to determine training requirements. Provides on-the-job training and support to employees
  • Ensure Service Level Agreements are managed and kept above the acceptable level

Business Development

  • Ensuring highest level of customer satisfaction and client retention/ referrals
  • Developing relationships with new customers
  • Participating in related associations
  • Being an ambassador of the company in local community

Compensation is commensurate with experience.  It includes a strong base salary, medical, dental, vehicle allowance as well as performance based bonus structure.
