The District of Kitimat is offering a unique opportunity for a qualified candidate interested in fulfilling the role of Gardener (Red Seal) to support the maintenance of District gardens, parks and municipal playgrounds.
The Gardener is responsible for planning and scheduling the work of the Parks staff engaged in operational and maintenance tasks on parks, playgrounds and flower beds. Candidates will have the ability to analyze, determine and create plans to meet the horticulture/arboriculture needs of the community and will prepare and administer budgets, including sourcing services and consumables. A thorough knowledge of planting, cultivating and care of a wide variety of plants, shrubs, trees and flowers and of the materials and tools used in garden maintenance will be required.

The successful candidate will have a:
•Landscape Horticulturist Red Seal qualification
•Valid BC Class 5/7N Drivers License
This position works 40 hours per week. A wage of $44.80 per hour is offered in addition to a comprehensive benefits and relocation package. This position is within the collective bargaining unit and is therefore subject to the terms and conditions of the current Collective Agreement.
