Our Opportunity – Forestry Supervisors

The ideal candidate would bring at least 1 year experience in Block Layout, or 1 year of Timber Cruising as the lead cruiser. They will also bring a proven ability to lead and direct their crews to conduct the work required in a fast paced and changing environment, have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a high degree of perfectionism in data entry. Forestry Supervisors will be responsible for enabling their crews to be ready for work each day. This includes tailgate meetings, ensuring that equipment is provided and in good working order and the crew is informed of daily activities, as well as the over-arching contract plan.

The role includes the following requirements and characteristics:

  • Punctual, dependable, safe, and accountable in the field
  • Cutblock layout and design
  • Road Layout and Traverse knowledge
  • Riparian identification and management strategies
  • Biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification and stratification
  • Soil texture identification
  • Plant and tree species identification
  • Traverse and assessment for road engineering cost estimates
  • Fundamental knowledge of the 2020 Timber Cruising Manual (prerequisite for Timber Cruising only)
