Survitec specializes in the sales, distribution, and servicing of aviation, defense and marine safety & life-saving equipment. We are looking to hire a Fire Safety Service Technician for our Vancouver (Delta) location.
Reporting to the Fire Safety Service Supervisor, the Fire Safety Service Technician is responsible for conducting on-site inspections of fire related products on marine vessels and in commercial buildings.
Duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:
Service and repair work includes (but is not limited to): Inspecting fire safety equipment on site; transporting fire safety equipment from site to shop for repair, testing and filling; correctly documenting the use of spare parts to ensure accuracy of inventory; return and installation of serviced equipment on site.
Keep accurate records during the performance of service work, ensuring complete and proper information flow between the service operation and the administrative team.
Ensure that all services performed are appropriately logged in the applicable electronic and / or paper means of record keeping (i.e. checklists).
Keep the service shop and Company owned or leased tools, equipment and vehicle(s) in clean and organized condition.
Inform the Fire Safety Service Supervisor immediately if you become aware of any breakdown in service quality or any health and safety related issue.
Occasional travel for training purposes and service work will be required.
Skills & Qualifications:
ASTT Certified in the following disciplines. Must be willing to immediately take ASTT courses for disciplines not already held. Candidates with more ASTT disciplines will be given priority in the selection process.
Fire Extinguishers (EX) - required
Unit Emergency Lighting (EM) - required
Fire Alarm Systems (AL) - would be an asset
Special Fire Suppression Systems (SP) - would be an asset
Water-Based Fire Protection Systems (i.e. Sprinklers) (WA) - would be an asset
Experience servicing fire safety equipment on marine vessels is preferred, but not required.
Physically fit – some heavy lifting is required.
A valid driver’s license and driver’s abstract (must provide).
The ability to pass a criminal record check.
A valid passport, or the ability to obtain a passport, to attend training outside of Canada.
Strong customer service skills.
A strong work ethic and ability to work with minimal supervision.
Positive attitude and team player.
This is a full-time MWBIU (Marine Workers and Boilermakers Industrial Union) position, offering a competitive hourly wage plus extended benefits after completion of a probationary period. This position is based at 1689 Cliveden Avenue, Delta, BC. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm.
