In anticipation of future project demands, WSP invites talented professionals interested in Fire Protection Design for our Buildings Mechanical & Electrical Department , located at our Vancouver office, to apply. Reporting to the Manager, Mechanical this position will be responsible for this position will be responsible for designing and drafting the detailed Fire Protection systems for a variety of institutional, residential, light industrial, commercial, health care and recreational building projects.

•Site investigations, design calculations, the preparation of drawings and specification to tender projects and on-site construction review;

•Primarily in office, with some field work during initial site investigation and follow-up with contractor installation; the position includes dealing with owners for design needs and contractors during construction;

•Working with other professionals, within and outside the office, to deliver successful projects within exceptional quality, budget and schedule results.

•A recognized degree in Engineering or Applied Science with a valid P. Eng. license registered with APEGBC;

•Previous experience in the design of water based sprinkler protection, non-water based fire suppression, and fire pumps for commercial, healthcare, industrial and education projects;

•6 - 9 years of relevant experience in the design of Building fire protection systems.

•Experience with laying out and hydraulically sizing the fire protection systems using commercially available software

•Ability to work on several projects at a time with multiple design teams

•Excellent technical, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

•Excellent verbal communication skills
