We have an opportunity for a full-time Financial Accountant to join our corporate headquarters on a hybrid work model in Prince George, BC.

Reporting to the Finance Superintendent, the Financial Accountant assists in identifying and implementing best practices in accounting, financial reporting, control and compliance. This position is involved in all aspects of accounting in support of the regional operations of the company.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Accounting and financial reporting for Mount Milligan, and Gemfield Resources LLC (writing journal entries to record financial transactions)
• Reviewing open PO reports for goods/services received and preparing monthly accrual templates for site managers in accordance with PR/PO coding
• Identifying variances between actual costs and budgets/forecasts and explaining them to managers
• Analyzing monthly financial data accurately and concisely, preparing monthly cost slides, and assisting with business reviews
• Assisting with accurate and timely monthly close reporting; preparing quarterly and annual financial reports, audit reports, and tax returns
• Communicating and coordinating effectively with team and site managers by compiling financial information that assists reporting groups in preparing statutory reports
• Providing audit support to internal and external auditors and performing special tasks and ad-hoc activities as requested by management on a regular basis
• Complying with IFRS and SOX requirements in a timely and efficient manner

To qualify, you must have post-secondary qualifications in accounting or a related discipline. You must also have 3-5 years of professional work experience in accounting.

The ideal candidate will also possess the following:

• Working knowledge of financial statements and accounting standards
• Being in the process of obtaining a CPA or working toward it
• Working knowledge of ERP systems 
• Ability to self-evaluate and continuously strive for quality and be able to prioritize tasks and stay on schedule in the absence of external influences
• Clear written and verbal communication skills as well as data entry, analysis and reconciliation skills
