ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Finance team as a Finance Programming Compliance Coordinator.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, the primary objective of the role is to support and facilitate program and administration improvements and compliance across MNBC. This position plays a key role in optimizing MNBC’s procedures and evaluating internal controls as well as managing special projects as determined by senior management. The position will be responsible for supporting improvements and enhancements by assessing risk, conducting program and administration reviews, evaluating and monitoring internal controls and ensuring compliance with funding terms and conditions and delivery requirements, outside regulatory requirements, internal policies and processes and standard operating procedures.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with management to identify, evaluate and document business risks, internal controls which mitigate those risks and related opportunities for internal control improvement
  • Perform internal compliance duties including process reviews and internal control reviews
  • Research records and data from multiple sources such as department files and a variety of databases
  • Perform documentation walkthroughs with management and department leads to document control processes and design new controls
  • Apply relevant funding terms and delivery requirements, policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Prepare comprehensive reports to support conclusions and communicate results to management
  • Adhere to quality assurance processes and procedures to produce consistent quality of work
  • Provide support to finance as required
  • Additional duties and projects as assigned


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting, and/or professional designation
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in finance or related field
  • Combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered
  • Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in B.C.
  • Familiarity with government funding processes
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgement and take subsequent action
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze the relationships between business requirements and technological solutions that impact operations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to lead, problem solve, and utilize team-building skills
  • Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision
  • Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role


OTHER COMMENTS

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC
  • There will be a need to attend meetings and events which may require work and travel outside of the normal business hours
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and access to reliable personal vehicle for work purposes
