JOB DESCRIPTION Duties:

* Manages financial reporting of capital projects for the Technology Key Business Unit (KBU) and all project lifecycle actions required in SAP up to and including project closure.

* Supports Regulatory (BCUC) filings for Technology KBU capital information.

* Completes financial review of funding requests for Technology projects and Technology contract items that require executive approval. Prepares the financial review memo, and balances between information comprehensiveness and accuracy and the timeliness of the memo.

* The Finance review of Technology funding requests includes confirming whether the problem/ issue is clear and supported, alternatives have been identified and discussed are properly supported and clear, funding approvals are being complied with, key risks have been identified, cost estimate and contingency amounts are properly supported, required documentation has been provided and approved as appropriate and capitalization criteria have been met.

* Works with the Technology project initiators, project managers, program managers and Technology Project Management Office teams to strengthen or clarify the funding requests.

* Develops positive working relationships with project initiators, project managers, program managers and Technology Project Management Office teams.

* Provides guidance and direction to the Technology group with respect to the funding requests and contract review requirements and processes and fit within Technology's project delivery practices.

* Holds presentations/training sessions on the Technology funding request approval process.

* Works with central Finance Investment Evaluation group to ensure the Technology KBU's funding approvals, contract approvals and Finance governance processes are aligned, where appropriate, with other capital delivery groups.

Qualifications:

* Professional accounting or finance designation (e.g. CFA, CA, CGA, CMA).

* A minimum of nine (9) years of experience in a progressively more responsible financial support capacity.

* Please note this role currently has one direct report so experience with leading, managing and coaching is a strong asset.

* Experience preparing or reviewing Net Present Value (NPV) models is preferred.

* In-depth knowledge of accounting practices and principles and effective internal control concepts and their effective application.

* Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

* Demonstrated ability to identify key issues and summarize them verbally and written.

* Can manage multiple tasks at the same time while still meeting expected timelines.

* Comfortable presenting to senior management and to large groups.

* Experience with supervising/managing other team members and ensuring team deliverables are met within the appropriate deadlines.

The following criteria are strongly desired.

* > 2 years' experience in either reviewing or preparing funding requests.

* > 2 years' experience helping users with corporate or government policies.

* Experience of developing NPV models and/or reviewing, as appropriate. The contract items that the team reviews are also required to follow BC Hydro MAPP.

* Knowledge of SAP. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

* Please note this is a P4 M&P Full-Time Regular (FTR) opportunity and is located in Vancouver at our Dunsmuir office.

* As part of the selection process, applicants may be required to take a written test/assessment or do a presentation.

* Standard BC Hydro office environment with occasional travel to attend meetings.
